Frequently Asked Questions

Surf in Nicaragua

Can I bring someone?

Yes, you can. Bring another surfer and receive %15 percent off your trip. We have special rates for groups of four or more and non-surfing companions available. Contact us for more details.

Are there age requirements?

You're never too old or young to surf, but you need to be 18 to book a trip. We have shared the surfing stoke with guests from 3 years old to 83 years young. The majority of our guests range from their 20's through their 50's. Children are welcome with family groups. Ages 15 through 17 can attend regular camps with a parent. Through the stoke of surf and the aloha vibes from the Liquid Sessions surf family, our groups are well integrated and fun. We don't mix single surfers with family groups. We personalize each experience, finding out a little about you to match you or your group up with the right place, time, and people to make an epic experience you'll remember for a lifetime.

I've never surfed. Is Liquid Sessions Surf for me?

Yes, it is, and congratulations on deciding to try something new and exciting! Sometimes the most challenging part is just starting. Some of our clients have never seen the ocean before. Others have had a bad experience in the water before. Liquid Sessions Surf curriculum was created specifically for beginner and intermediate surfers to learn, progress, and build their confidence in and out of the water.

How do the shared rooms work?

You have the choice of sharing a studio apartment with one to three other Liquid Sessions guests or paying extra for a private room. Dorms sleep four and do not have air conditioning.

Should I bring my own board?

No matter whether you are a beginner surfer, intermediate surfer, longboarder, or a fun-boarder, we've got you covered with our sizeable up-to-date surf quiver. Our quiver includes longboards, fish surfboards, and fun boards. You are sure to find the perfect board to feel confident, build skills, and have fun. If you have a favorite board and want to bring it with you, bring it! For our advanced and performance riders, we advise you to bring your own surfboards. Three good boards should do it. We have a limited selection of choices for performance and shortboards.

How much cash should I bring?

That depends on you and your personal spending preferences. Liquid Sessions has you covered on pretty much everything you need. We provide three meals daily, as well as unlimited water, tea, and coffee. You'll need money for beers, cocktails, smoothies, and any extra food or snacks. Airport transportation costs approximately $60 to $80 each way. If other Liquid Sessions guests are traveling on the same days, we can arrange for a cost-saving shuttle.
There is also a small gift shop and a couple of restaurants in the area. The closest ATM is over 30 minutes away, so bring money. Any extra charges you may incur, such as drinks, massages, horseback riding, hot springs tours, etc. will be billed to your room. Payment at check out by cash or card is accepted.

How does airport transportation work?

Fly into Airport Costa Esmeralda and Liquid Sessions will pick you up for free! Fly into Managua and it costs approximately $60 to $80 each way. If other Liquid Sessions guests are traveling on the same days, we can arrange for a cost-saving shuttle.

We do not recommend flying into Costa Rica and crossing the border yourself unless you use a shuttle service, fly over, or are an experienced traveler. The border is a little difficult for first-time border crossers and inexperienced travelers.

Is Nicaragua safe?

Yes! Statistically, Nicaragua is the poorest of money-wealthy countries in Central America, but it is rich in life. It is the third safest Central American country, according to Tour Radar. Despite Nicaragua's political and civil ups and downs over the years, the beaches and surf destinations remain untouched and beautiful. Nicaragua's natural beauty, combined with its friendly people, will have you relaxing in no time.

Do I need a passport?

Yes. All you need is a return ticket and a passport to get into Nicaragua. They will stamp a visa in your passport for up to 90 days. *Guests traveling from the United States can find more information here.
**Please check regarding requirement from your country/location.
